"Scientific" definition: (noun) "The area around a player in which a moving football can be caught."
Inspiration: Jon Gruden
Jon Gruden will be featured on this blog many times. I have heard some of the best lines from Chucky and he really deserves my first real post on this blog.
I first heard this expression last night on Monday Night Football and it put me over the edge. Of all of the phrases I have heard, this one might be my favorite.
As you can see in the picture, Jon Gruden really went the extra mile and physically demonstrated what catch radius really is. Why say something simple like "this receiver has long arms" when you can flash an awesome graphic on the screen and do a segment on something so interesting? The reason is that Jon is a master of his craft and he wants viewers to really understand the depth of the game.
My only question for Jon is: what about catch diameter?
